I’ve done a thing…

I’ve been lazy at posting for a year now. A YEAR. I’ve gotten a few dolls since then, from Pullips (I finally like them) to a Lila Soom doll, whom I love, and some Toysfield dolls; a kuma, a usagi, and a Cotyledon Kuma. But what I want to talk about now is my newest.

She’s something that I never thought I would buy, and something that, for the most part, makes even the above average doll lover a bit hesitant. I’ve bought a reborn baby.

I’ve got reasons. First, they are cute, and obviously fun to dress. I love baby clothing, but have nothing to put it on, UNTIL NOW.

I have 3 grandkids, who live at least 900 miles from me, so I don’t get to see them, and truth be told, I miss holding babies. When you finally get a baby to sleep, and you’re holding this tiny , quiet human in your arms, time seems to stop in that moment, and all is right with the world.

I went in search of a fake baby, with the fever and hunger of someone in the throws of real baby fever. I knew I wanted a girl. In life, I have 1 daughter and 3 sons, and after boy 3, I gave up tempting the gene pool, in my quest for another girl. I knew I wanted an asleep baby. See my above, time stops all is right statement. I knew I wanted a really realistic baby. I’m a huge fan of the Uncanny Valley. I have zero trouble with realism.

I scoured eBay for days, looking for one that would click. *this is where the whole process is different from life. You can’t get real babies on the bay* Finally I saw a blonde, sleeping baby, the Linda Murray sculpt, “Andi Asleep” . The baby reminded me of  a girl version of my 2nd child, first son.

She cost more than I meant to spend, but obviously less than a real baby would. I made an offer, and it got accepted. She arrived today, and when I opened the box I had to smile. She was more gorgeous than I could imgine, and was so cuddly, and definitely reminded me of my 2 child. Although he doesn’t have a magnet in his head. XD

I had to show my 4th son, Spawn 4, just in case he walked in my room and was wondering WTF I was doing with what appears to be a dead baby in an Amazon box. (I need to get her a basket)

I’ve named her Beatrix Rose. She’s 5 lb 4 oz, and 20 inches.  I have no idea who the artist was, but she was AMAZING.
